Spartanburg High School Viking Band

Welcome to the Spartanburg High School Band website. The Spartanburg High School Band is one of the oldest bands in South Carolina and is filled with tradition and musical excellence. The Spartanburg District 7 Band program continues to grow and establish itself as one of the best programs in the state.

Below are dates and links for local summer music camps. The SHS Viking Band Booster Club offers scholarships (by audition) for students planning on attending. Amount and information concerning scholarships will be posted soon.

VIKING BAND TO PLAY AT "THE WALL THAT HEALS"

SPARTANBURG JAYCEES SCHOLARSHIP
Congratulations to Spencer Nance and Randy Edwards on receiving marching band scholarships from the Spartanburg Jaycees. Spencer received the Don Easler Jaycee Scholarship of $1000, and Randy received the E. Lewis Miller Scholarship of $500. In addition to the two scholarships, a $250.00 Matching Grant, sponsored by Denny's Corporation, was awarded to Mr. Horton. The matching grant is to be used to support the band program.

2008 MARCHING BAND CALENDAR
Click the link on the right above the band director contact information. Parents-please use this calendar in planning family vacations. There are two full weeks of camp next year (one at SHS, one at Camp Wayfarer)-both are mandatory. There will be additional practices the week before school starts. Dates will be determined when the district calendar is approved.
